An Oshkosh man's boast in jail about the quality of the heroin he sold and the number of dead bodies left behind has lead to a homicide charge against him in connection to a fatal 2012 overdose.

Patrick Ja. Schreck, 25, was charged in Winnebago County Circuit Court June 16 with first-degree reckless homicide in connection to the July 20, 2012, death of Stephen P. Hidde, 44, of Appleton.

A warrant has been issued for Schreck's arrest.

According to the criminal complaint, Hidde and Jennalee Anderson, now 25, went to Oshkosh on July 19, 2012, and purchased heroin from Schreck. Hidde used the heroin, began to act peculiarly and appeared to be overdosing. Anderson took him to Appleton Medical Center, where he later died.

An autopsy determined Hidde died of a "toxicologic process specifically involving opiates."

Anderson initially told authorities that she and Hidde went to a residence in the 900 block of Grand Street in Oshkosh on July 19, 2012, and bought heroin from Charles M. Bloesl, now 38.

Bloesl was charged Oct. 25, 2012, in Winnebago County Circuit with first-degree reckless homicide and delivery of heroin in connection to Hidde's death. The charges against Bloesl were dismissed on a prosecutor's motion on Aug. 1, 2013.

However, the investigation was not complete.

Investigators from the Lake Winnebago Metropolitan Enforcement Group spoke to a then-31-year-old inmate at the Winnebago County Jail on July 10, 2013.

The inmate told investigators he was in the Winnebago County Jail with Schreck when Schreck told him the heroin he sold was the best heroin in the area and that there were "five dead bodies attributed to his heroin." He then told the inmate that one of the deaths had been blamed on another person.

Schreck told the inmate that he met with Anderson on July 19, 2012, at a residence on Honey Creek Road and sold her heroin. He said a person who later died was with her.

A second inmate at the jail confirmed the conversation.

When investigators spoke to Anderson on Aug. 1, 2013, at the Door County Jail, she admitted she had not been truthful.

She then told investigators that she and Hidde had gone to the Honey Creek Road in Oshkosh on July 19, 2012, and she purchased two packets of heroin from Schreck

Anderson was charged and convicted of delivery of heroin in connection to the incident. She was placed on probation and ordered to serve 12 months of conditional jail time on March 27.
